OUR MISSION
At Starr's Dance & Acro Central, our mission is to provide quality training in a positive, structured, and creative environment — where faith, discipline, and personal growth are just as important as dance technique. We believe the arts are a powerful tool for building confidence, shaping character, and unlocking each child's God-given potential.
Through age-appropriate instruction in dance and acro, students are encouraged to grow in skill, self-esteem, and integrity. Our goal is to nurture strong morals, respect for others, and a lifelong love of learning -- empowering children to shine both on and off the stage.

Starr’s Dance & Acro Curriculum
Our Dance Program blends classical technique with early childhood movement theory, introducing correct terminology and foundational skills from the start. Guided by the DECK model and led by certified instructor Starr Gaither-Kendrick, our curriculum supports physical, emotional, and cognitive development through age-appropriate instruction. We emphasize core dance elements alongside key developmental skills, nurturing both strong dancers and confident, creative learners.

Starr’s Dance & Acro offers dance classes for ages 2 and up in ballet, tap, jazz, hip-hop, lyrical/contemporary, and musical theatre. See more details on our Classes page.

We offer classes for students ages 2 and older, catering to skill levels ranging from beginner to advanced.

Classes are Monday - Thursday between 2pm - 7pm. Specific class times can be found here.

Yes - for the 2025/26 season there is a $50 registration fee or $75 per family.
Our costume fees are based on which classes you are enrolled in. See Fees and Pricing page for more info.

Yes! You receive $15 off each additional class after the first (per student) and $15 off total tuition for each additional child after the first (per household).

THE STUDIO
Classes will be at our temporary location, in a private room adjacent to The Beacon at First United Methodist Church. The designated entrance is a side door marked by a pink poster board, situated just behind a row of shrubs.
Starr Gaither-Kendrick is a seasoned instructor, choreographer, and studio owner with over 30 years of experience in dance, gymnastics, and performing arts education. She is certified through Dance Educators of America in ballet, pointe, tap, jazz, hip-hop, lyrical, contemporary, modern, musical theatre, and clogging, having trained under some of the world’s most renowned dance educators in Paris, France, and Las Vegas, Nevada. She is also a proud member of the Alabama Dance Council.
